With all this in mind, we've gathered five of our favorite end-of-year destinations for RV enthusiasts. Each location offers comfortable motorhome accommodations and plenty of activities to enjoy. From sandy shores to snowflakes, there is an epic winter adventure for every type of traveler. Ready to embrace this magical season? Read on for the details.
Venice, Florida
This coastal jewel on the Gulf of Mexico is a snowbird's sanctuary. Balmy temperatures, 14 miles of sugary beaches, and a charming city are a recipe for R&R. Comb the beach for seashells and a more unusual treasure–Venice is known as The Shark Tooth Capital of the World. Then stroll along Main Street, admiring the Italian-inspired architecture. Multiple nearby parks and nature preserves provide a touch of nature beyond the beaches. If you'd like to get an early start on the holiday spirit, check out the Venice Christmas Boat Parade on December 2nd. Set up your home base at your pick of several RV parks.
Leavenworth, Washington
Like Venice, the town of Leavenworth has a certain European flair. Unlike the first destination, however, this Bavarian-style town is a snowscape. Here, the entire month of December (and beyond) is dedicated to Christmas cheer, with half a million twinkling lights decorating the town, choirs and carolers, a nutcracker museum, and many Santa-centric activities. Don't miss the Leavenworth Reindeer Farm for an up-close-and-personal experience with Santa's helpers. If you can brave the cold, snowshoeing, sledding, and snowmobiling are popular pastimes. Lake Wenatchee State Park provides postcard-pretty views.
Joshua Tree National Park, California
Looking for a serene escape from the holiday hustle and bustle? Head to Joshua Tree National Park. From scenic hikes to captivating climbs, this park is a rugged retreat for nature lovers. Massive boulders and the unique spiky Joshua trees create an otherworldly scene that is even more captivating at sunrise and sunset. The views continue after dark–Joshua Tree is considered one of the best national parks in the country for stargazing. While admiring the Milky Way, keep an eye out for shooting stars! Within the park, there are eight RV-friendly campsites for dry camping. If you prefer to camp with hookups, opt for one of the RV parks in the surrounding small towns.
Scottsdale, Arizona
For a different type of desert adventure, visit Scottsdale. In this sunny city, you'll find a welcome blend of luxury and nature. When it comes to the finer things, you can sample delicious food and wine, get inspired at art galleries and museums, or treat yourself to some spa time. The city is also known as a prime golfing destination. Balance out all the indulgent activities with hiking and biking through nearby scenic nature areas, including the McDowell Sonoran Preserve and Pinnacle Peak Park. Plus, you can get in a festive mood throughout the month of December with the city's Scottsdazzle programming. And thanks to the plentiful boutiques in Old Town, your holiday gift shopping will be a breeze.
Park City, Utah
If you're searching for a very merry winter sports getaway, Park City can't be beaten. This city nestled in the Wasatch Mountains offers world-class skiing and snowboarding. The season begins in December, with fewer crowds in the earlier part of the month. Even if you aren't planning on hitting the slopes, this delightful town has plenty to offer. Indulge in the après ski scene, with cozy fireside lounges and lively bars. Around Christmas, you can stroll down the charmingly decorated Historic Main Street and take part in tons of events. From sleigh rides to fireworks, holiday season activities in Park City are equally well suited for family fun or a romantic vacation.
From sunny and serene to frosty and festive, there is a December RV destination for every traveler. Similarly, we carry a wide range of recreational vehicles well suited to every type of adventure.
