Know Your RV Oven

RVs differ greatly in their kitchen layout and appliance type. Understanding your oven is key to having a positive cooking experience. RV ovens are usually smaller than home ovens, so you may need smaller sized baking sheets.

Also, it can take more time to cook all of the dough since each batch will be smaller. If your oven uses propane, make sure you have enough for holiday cooking before you begin. Finally, make sure you preheat the oven to the correct temperature for the best results.

Cookie Dough Options

There are hundreds of different types of cookies that you can make. The important thing is to choose one that you have the time and ability to do in your RV. If you have holiday favorites, you can certainly continue your traditions on the road. I suggest making the dough one day and then cooking the next day so you have more counter space to work on.

Sometimes, though, you may want to simplify your holiday cookie baking. One way to do that is to purchase pre-made cookie dough. You can avoid having to get all the separate ingredients as well as doing the measuring and mixing required. Being able to just bake the cookies allows you to get right to the fun decorating part faster. Here is one recipe at Pillsbury's website that uses their prepared cookie dough.

Another way to simplify is to use a cake mix to make cookies. You can choose from many flavors then just add one egg and 1/2 cup of vegetable oil to the dry mix. Stir to form a dough and then roll into 1-inch balls. You can add fun mix-ins like chocolate chips, sprinkles, or M&M candies before baking at 350 degrees for 7-9 minutes.

Simple Cookie Decorating

If you really don't want to bake cookies at all, there is another easy option. You can purchase store-made cookies and decorate them yourself. It's easy to buy your favorite cookies, dip half of each in melted chocolate, and then add toppings to make them look festive.

We like to use white chocolate and top with crushed peppermint pieces or milk chocolate topped with colored sprinkles. No-Bake Treats
